Sleep longer, drop weight faster!

Maybe Ben Franklin was wrong when he stated “There will be sleeping enough in the grave” and “The sleeping fox catches no poultry.” A recent study from our own backyard, the University of Chicago, concluded that dieters who slept an average of 8.5 hours per night lost 55% more weight than those who slept 5.5 hours per night! So sleep is not only important for our mental well-being, but also for our physical well-being. The researchers discovered that sleep might affect a hormone called ghrelin which increases appetite and fat retention. Think about it, not only can getting enough sleep make you a more positive person, but it can also help you shed pounds this holiday season.
